Infection and immunity

Pathogens, how the body fights them, and how vaccines work.

Internal exclusion

Also called Isolation, Removal room, Seclusion, Reflection room

Removing a pupil from class to a supervised space within school. Permitted, and it should be limited and recorded.

Interpreting data tables

Reading numbers in rows and columns, and spotting what they show.

Intervention

A time-limited programme targeting a specific gap. Should have an entry point, an exit point and evidence.

Interview technique

Being interviewed for a course, an apprenticeship or a job. A skill, and practisable.

Irony

Also called Dramatic irony, Verbal irony, Situational irony

A gap between what is said or expected and what is meant or happens.

Iteration and numerical methods

Solving an equation by repeated approximation when algebra will not do it.

Stevenson's 1886 novella about a respectable doctor and the man he becomes. Duality, repression and Victorian hypocrisy.

Judicial review

A court challenge to a public body's decision-making. The last resort, and the fastest deadline in the system.
