Landing page
The page an advert sends people to. One job, one action.
Please note: This page explains what a term means. It is general information, not legal, financial, tax or investment advice, and it does not know anything about your business. Before you sign, file or commit to anything, check it with an accountant, a solicitor, or the official guidance we link to.
What it means
A landing page is built for a single campaign and a single action — enquire, buy, book, download — rather than as a general page of the website.
Why it matters
Sending paid traffic to a home page is the commonest and most expensive mistake in small-business advertising. A page that matches the advert converts several times better.
What it looks like in practice
One offer, one call to action, the same words as the advert, and nothing competing for attention. Remove the navigation if it is not needed.
What to watch out for
Asking for too much. Every extra form field reduces completion, and phone number and company name are the usual culprits.
Where to get proper advice
Your own conversion rate before and after. This is measurable and does not need an opinion.
