What it is
T Levels are level 3 technical qualifications developed with employers, covering a broad occupational area. Each includes an industry placement of at least 45 days.
One T Level is broadly equivalent to three A Levels and carries UCAS points.
Where it applies
Students post-16 at providers offering them. Availability varies considerably by area and subject.
How it works
The programme combines a technical qualification, the placement, and English and maths where not already achieved.
A T Level Foundation Year exists for students not yet ready to start one.
What you can ask for
Ask how the industry placement is supported for a student with SEND — the placement is the part most likely to need adjustments and the part least likely to have been planned for.
Ask what the progression routes are from that specific T Level. Some lead well to degrees; others are stronger towards employment or higher apprenticeships.
