What it is
Globalisation is the process by which economies, cultures and populations become interconnected, driven by transport, communications technology, trade liberalisation and transnational corporations.
Where it applies
GCSE geography human topics, and it appears in business and citizenship.
How it works
TNCs locate different functions in different countries following cost and skills, which brings investment and jobs and also low wages and weak protections.
Effects are uneven — that unevenness is the exam's usual interest.
How to use it in your work
Always give both sides and then judge. Globalisation questions are almost always evaluative.
Use a named TNC with specific operations rather than a generic one.
