What it means
A minimum viable audience is the smallest well-defined group whose needs you can meet well enough that they buy and tell others.
Why it matters
Small businesses lose by trying to serve everybody. A narrow audience makes marketing cheaper, the product better and word of mouth possible.
What it looks like in practice
Define it by problem and situation, not demographics. "Dental practices with two to five surgeries who have just taken on a practice manager" is actionable; "SMEs" is not.
What to watch out for
Broadening the definition when sales are slow, which usually makes it worse — the message gets vaguer and converts less.
Where to get proper advice
