What it is
A team around the family meeting brings together the practitioners involved with a child — school, health visitor, school nurse, early help worker, therapist — together with the parents and often the child, to agree who is doing what.
It is part of early help and is voluntary.

Families receiving support from more than one service.
How it works
A lead practitioner co-ordinates, writes the plan and calls the reviews. The point is to stop a family repeating their story to six different services and to stop actions falling between them.
What you can ask for
Ask for the plan in writing with names and dates against each action, and for a review date before you leave the room.
Ask to invite someone of your own — a friend, an advocate, SENDIASS. You are entitled to support in a meeting about your family.
Ask for the minutes. If something was agreed and is not in them, say so in writing.
