What it is
Multi-step problems combining ratio with fractions, percentages or algebra.
Where it applies
Both tiers, and they carry disproportionate marks.
How it works
Almost all of them reduce to finding the value of one part or one share, then scaling.
Where a ratio changes — someone gives away some of their share — the algebraic route is usually cleaner than trial and error.
How to use it in your work
Write down what one part is worth before anything else.
Check whether the ratio is part-to-part or part-to-whole, and re-read the question after you have an answer to make sure you answered what was asked.
