What it is
A frequency tree splits a total by one characteristic and then another. A two-way table cross-tabulates two characteristics.

Both tiers.
How it works
Both make conditional probability visible: the probability of A given B is the count in the overlap divided by the total for B.
Rows and columns must total to the grand total, which is a built-in check.
How to use it in your work
Fill in what you are given, then use the totals to deduce the rest. Most of these questions are arithmetic puzzles with one missing corner.
Read the question for 'given that' — it changes the denominator, and that is the whole test.
