A cyclical structure returns at the end to an image, a place, a phrase or a situation from the opening.
Where it applies
Poetry, prose and drama.
How it works
The return invites comparison. Either nothing has changed, which is bleak, or everything has and the same words now mean something different — which is the more interesting version.
How to use it in your work
Quote both moments together. The point is the difference between them.
It is one of the strongest structure points available and it takes one sentence to set up.
