What it is
A case study is a real place or event studied in detail as evidence for a topic.
Where it applies
Geography above all, and history, business and sociology.
How it works
The marks are for SPECIFIC detail — place names, figures, dates, named schemes — which is what distinguishes a case study answer from a general one.
How to use it in your work
Learn a fact file for each: where, when, why it happened there, three effects with figures, and two responses.
Use the detail early in the answer. Examiners report that students save the specifics for a final paragraph they never reach.
One well-known case study used precisely beats three known vaguely.
