T

Trigger finger

Also called Stenosing tenosynovitis, Trigger thumb

A finger that catches, clicks or locks bent. A steroid injection cures most of them, and it is often not offered.

Tuberculosis

Also called TB, Consumption

Not a disease of the past. Curable with six months of treatment, and finishing the course is the whole of the problem.

Tuberous sclerosis

Also called TSC, Tuberous sclerosis complex

A genetic condition causing benign tumours in many organs. Epilepsy and behaviour are usually what shapes the life.

Turner syndrome

A missing or altered X chromosome in girls and women. Short stature and ovarian failure, plus a heart risk nobody should forget.

Type 1 diabetes

The immune system destroys the cells that make insulin. Nothing to do with lifestyle, and insulin is not optional.

Type 2 diabetes

Insulin that no longer works well enough. Around 4.4 million people in the UK, and in many it can be put into remission.
